Active Constituent(s)
- 1 mg/mL Hydroxocobalamin (as the acetate)
- 2 mg/mL Selenium (as sodium selenate)
Indications
Before treatment, establish selenium and vitamin B12 status of stock and/or pasture cobalt levels. Do not administer COBALEX 1000 B12 PLUS SELENIUM INJECTION unless deficiencies of both cobalt and selenium exist.
Cobalt deficiency in soil and/or pasture leads to a lack of vitamin B12 in body tissues of stock. Vitamin B12 deficiency is mostly a problem in very young stock. Poor growth rates and ill thrift may be seen in affected animals.
Treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency is likely to last only 4 – 6 weeks.
Redose with non-selenised vitamin B12 after this time if required.
Treatment of pregnant animals should benefit newborn animals particularly when treated in the latter stages of pregnancy.
Supplementation of young ruminants should begin at or before weaning.
The need for, and frequency of, dosing is related to the severity of deficiency and the age of the animal. Seek veterinary advice if poor stock condition persists after treatment.
